Meredith College is one of the largest private four-year colleges for women in the Southeast.  It is a comprehensive college with an emphasis on  liberal arts.   The College was chartered in 1891.   

Meredith College's 225-acre campus has served as a host site for many annual events.     The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's Triangle Race for the Cure and the North Carolina Symphony's annual Labor Day "Pops in the Park" Concert have both been hosted at the college.
